During the fifth XR Creators Connect meetup we bring together the XR community in The Netherlands! This edition provides a behind-the-scenes look at several recent XR projects, offering insights into their creation, design, development, and launch.

The event takes place on Wednesday, February 12th, 2025, at Beeld & Geluid (Theater 1) at the Media Park in Hilversum.

Several presentations will be held:

• Sander Sneek from Wonderment by Design presents a behind-the-scenes look at Programming Blocks. Discover how this innovative mixed reality educational app was created—from concept to prototype as part of the Meta Start Incubation Program. Learn about the design process, challenges, and how the app utilizes advanced Meta Presence Platform features like passthrough, spatial anchors, and hand tracking to teach coding in a playful, intuitive way. • Roland Smeenk shares his experience as lead developer of the VR Opera From Dust. In this VR experience, the audience navigates through a series of surreal worlds, personalized to match their personality. Virtual counterparts of the German vocal ensemble Sjaella perform the opera composed and directed by Michel van der Aa. Roland will discuss AI-driven scene generation, balancing storytelling and interactivity, creating virtual singers, and creative solutions for overcoming physical space limitations. • Max van Leeuwen showcases his work on Snap's new Spectacles, along with examples of what others have built since the launch in September 2024. He'll cover the capabilities of the Spectacles, including features, hardware, and development tools.

XR Lab & Media Campus NL present interesting work from XR Lab students, including projects for Rooftop Immersive Studio’s and Dropstuff. Media Campus NL will also discuss CLICKNL’s ‘Innovatiemakelaars regeling’, which offers support to SMEs looking to explore new ways to engage audiences through immersive storytelling.
