T-REX (Textile Recycling Excellence)

Doris Hondtong

Doris Hondtong is an interdisciplinary designer and researcher working at the intersection of textiles, design and sustainability. With a background in textile product development and recycling, her work focuses on contributing to a circular textile industry. As a researcher in the T-REX (Textile Recycling Excellence) project, she specialised in circular design strategies that enable textile-to-textile recycling of post-consumer garments.

During the Design Innovation Sessions, Doris will share insights from the T-REX project, a Horizon Europe-funded collaboration exploring how design can accelerate circularity in fashion. With thirteen partners across the value chain, T-REX aimed to demonstrate a scalable system for textile-to-textile recycling of post-consumer garments. Doris will highlight key learnings from the project and introduce the T-REX Technical Design Guidance, offering practical recommendations for creating recyclable garments, inviting participants to reflect on the importance of design as a driving force in the transition towards a circular apparel industry.

Collaboration partners: Aalto University, adidas, Arapaha, BASF, CuRe Technology, Fashion for Good, FAU, Fulgar, Indorama, Infinited Fiber Company, Linz Textil, Quantis & Veolia.
