Haus der Statistik
Andreas Krüger
Biography
Andreas Krüger is founder & director of Belius GmbH, an agency for public-interest-oriented urban planning and development in Berlin. Since 2016 he is a board member of the Modellprojekt Haus der Statistik. Growing up in the 1970s and 1980s in Northern Germany, he started out as a cabinet making and boat builder. He studied city & regional planning in Berkely, economics in Göttingen and communication in Berlin. In addition to his work at Belius, Krüger also founded and moderated the real estate roundtable at Berlin’s house of deputies and frequently presents his work at international conferences.
During the Design Innovation Sessions, Andreas and Rikst will spotlight Europe's public sector as a driving force for innovation, too often overlooked in favour of Silicon Valley’s VC-driven (venture capital) model. As the downsides of that model become clear, it is high time to focus on a democratic “mission economy” powered by strong public institutions. Andreas and Rikst will share insights from the Public-Civic-Partnership model at Haus der Statistik in Berlin, that integrates approaches to the biobased transition within a radically participative, large scale urban development project in the heart of the German capital.
