VR in cultural Heritage: new ways for exploring heritage

  • PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
  • THE HUMAN TOUCH
  • TALK

How can the stories of cultural heritage institutions reach the public using the latest technologies? The Fieldlab Virtual Worlds, coordinated by CLICKNL, brings together VR and AR makers and heritage institutions for research and experimentation. Together they will tell new stories, make material accessible and keep the past alive.

The Fieldlab Virtual Worlds has been called twice for projects. After pre-selection and a jury presentation, a total of five projects were honoured. Including an AR experience about Rembrandt's private life and an experience about the eighty year war linked to the line from 1629.

This session, presented by five on-going projects, focuses on immersion and personal experience of AR and VR in the field of cultural heritage research. Attention will also be paid to the 'how' and 'why' these new techniques can help keep the past alive. A must for anyone interested in new technologies and telling stories.

The Fieldlab Virtual Worlds is coordinated by CLICKNL. Partners are the Meertens Institute, Media Perspectives and the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision.
