Festivals are booming. In the past years the amount of festivals in The Netherlands has quadrupled. This provides space for a new position of festivals in society. A number of festivals is using this position to lead the way towards the circular transition. Prepare for a new perspective of festivals as catalysts for circular innovation.

DGTL - from circularity to innovation
Sustainability is the main focus for DGTL Revolution. The foundation originated because of DGTL’s future perspective to create a more sustainable festival. During the past year DGTL has made big steps, such as the serving no more meat and fish, using green energy and becoming (almost!) 100% circular. On the road towards becoming a circular festival, DGTL does not shy away from innovation. DGTLs Milan, together with one of their innovators, explains how the festival contributes to a circular society.

Innofest - from innovation to circularity
to circularity In the past two-and-a-half years, 64 prototypes of new products or services have been tested at different festival sites. Festivals have their own energy grid, sewage and water system, produce waste and are home to thousand of end users of innovation: the festival visitors. Therefore. these contained environments are the perfect testing grounds for prototypes and experimental technologies. As Innofest focus is on innovators that want to make the world a better place, the majority of the pilots are focussed on the circular transition. Innofest's Anna will tell more about Innofest and brings along one of the innovator who recently tested a prototype on one of Innofest's festivals.
