Scheme Upstream: Music x Design

With Upstream, the Creative Industries Fund NL, together with the Performing Arts Fund and Sena, supports innovative artistic formats and collaborations within Dutch pop/urban music. For collaborative projects with artists focusing on innovative (artistic) applications of design, image or technology within pop music.

For whom?
This scheme is open to collaborative projects between pop artists and designers or makers from the creative industry. Applications must be submitted by the party involved in the creative industry.

For which projects?
Grants are awarded to projects that focus on innovative (artistic) applications of design, image or technology within pop music. The projects should result in physical and/or virtual presentations, products, installations or interventions that are shared with a wide audience.

Application amount
For the development and realisation of projects, the maximum contribution per project is € 50,000. The contribution is intended to provide fair compensation to the parties involved in the artistic/content-related parts and for costs, including material costs, relating to development, prototyping and performance.

Starting grant
Within this scheme you can also apply for a starting grant of a maximum of € 5,000. The start-up phase is a maximum of six months and is intended for carrying out preliminary research, preparing for the project and fleshing out the collaboration. The phase must result in a detailed realisation plan.

Upcoming rounds
The Upstream: Music x Design Grant Scheme has two grant rounds per year.
The second round opens after the closing date of the first round.
