Call Smart Culture - Art and Culture

The round Smart Culture - Arts and Culture is targeted at research into the arts, culture, heritage and media in relation to the creative industry. The aim is to make connections between concrete innovative art and cultural practices and more comprehensive academic and social issues. Experienced researchers (universities and universities of applied sciences) can request funding.

The call intends to make a contribution to strengthening the ecosystem of the creative sector by financing joint research between universities and universities of applied sciences, based on the idea that fundamental and practice-oriented research can enhance each other.

The research subjects can be related to the entire breadth of the cultural and creative chain; from creation to production and reception with specific attention for the maker.

Who can apply
Funding can be requested by consortia with at least one researcher and at least one private partner. Public partners are also expressly invited to participate.

Main applicants from universities should be experienced researchers who hold a PhD and hold an appointment at a Dutch university or a research institute recognised by NWO. Main applicants from universities of applied sciences should be working as a lector or senior researcher and hold an appointment at a Dutch University of applied sciences.
