Future Planet Pioneers

Future Planet Pioneers aims to increase knowledge and awareness of sustainable development among young library visitors. The project develops a serious game about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at children aged approximately 8 to 14.

In this multiplayer game, players are drawn into an adventure in which they continuously make choices. The game shows the consequences of these decisions, allowing young players to explore themes such as sustainability, climate and social issues in an interactive way.

The game is developed in co-creation with library staff and young people themselves. Library staff contribute their knowledge of the target audience, while young participants help shape the content and design of the game so that it connects with their interests and experiences.

During the project, researchers study how young people from different cultural backgrounds interact with the game and what effects it has on their knowledge and awareness of sustainable development. The results will provide insights into how serious games can contribute to awareness and behavioural change around societal challenges.

€34,410 will be used as a PPP program grant.
