What Design Can Do
Duurzame bruggen bouwen
Companies and other private organizations, alongside governments, play a crucial role in the transition to a sustainable society. Under pressure from societal expectations, active stakeholders, and regulations such as the EU's CSRD, the private sector must seek new strategies for sustainable innovation. Design power from the creative industries can play a key role in this, but collaboration between designers and businesses remains limited.
This project explores how to build that bridge. What are the key sustainability challenges faced by business networks? And what knowledge, skills, and mindsets do designers offer that can help address these challenges? The goal is to gain insight into the conditions needed for a well-functioning ecosystem in which designers and companies structurally reinforce each other.
The project focuses on both short-term outcomes (ideas and prototypes for activities and events) and long-term insights (conditions for structural collaboration). It draws lessons from existing initiatives to create an approach that leverages the power of design in support of private-sector sustainability transitions.
The result: a shared understanding of the value of a design-driven approach to critical business sustainability challenges, and practical tools to connect designers and businesses more effectively.
