The Power of Design & Transitions Programme aims to strengthen design capacity in order to better address the societal challenges the Netherlands is facing. This is achieved through design-driven research within public–private partnerships.

Whether the challenges relate to the energy transition, a healthy society, or sustainable, healthy and safe living environments, the Power of Design & Transitions Programme brings together parties to develop knowledge that enables better design. The Mission-driven Innovation Policy provides direction for the transitions addressed within the programme, while the Agenda Ontwerpkracht (The Power of Design Agenda) guides the knowledge development it seeks to achieve.

The programme offers (creative) professional service providers, knowledge institutions and organisations working around a societal challenge a unique opportunity to conduct design-driven research as equal partners. Together, they develop directions for change and design concrete interventions, while simultaneously building knowledge on how to do this more effectively. This collaborative approach is essential, as complex societal challenges require cooperation between diverse perspectives and disciplines.
