In recent years, a new vision of Participatory Healthcare has emerged, where individuals actively co-manage their health alongside clinicians, supported by technology and data. Such a healthcare transition is needed to address the significant pressure healthcare systems face.
Beyond medical records, personal life data, including experience, behaviours, and lifestyles, is a
core driver for this transition, enabling self-monitoring and improvement of health. However, individuals’ motivation to collect data and meaningfully engage with it remains low. Many current approaches are technologically advanced but fail to fit naturally into people’s daily routines or empower them to interpret and act upon their data.
This project exemplifies the Power of Design and Transitions by combining design research rooted in practice with interventions that accelerate the transition to participatory healthcare.
