The Power of Design & Transitions III “Beyond the Pilot” Open
What knowledge and methods do we need to leverage design power to develop transition-driven, scalable innovative products and services with a technological component? The third call for proposals from The Power of Design & Transitions is now open!
How can design power ensure that transition-driven innovative products and services are successfully implemented and become the new normal? With this third call for proposals from the The Power of Design & Transitions program, CLICKNL is seeking public-private research projects. In these projects, entrepreneurs facing scaling challenges, design professionals, and researchers will collaborate to develop knowledge that enables the creation of more scalable products and services to support transitions.
Whether it concerns innovative products or services in hospital care, the energy sector, or agriculture: there is no shortage of transition-driven innovations that successfully complete a pilot. But despite the large number of innovations that demonstrate they work in their specific context and have the potential to make an impact, relatively few are actually successfully implemented and scaled up. In other words: innovations that make it “past the pilot phase.” To ensure that innovations scale up and become the new normal, changes are needed in our approach to innovation. Design thinking plays a key role in this—but to fulfill that role more effectively, new knowledge is needed.
What?
CLICKNL aims to launch five projects through this call for proposals, each of which will receive a grant of up to €650,000. The process between the launch of this call and the awarding of the projects consists of phases in which participants work step-by-step toward developing complete plans.
Once the five projects get underway, they automatically become part of the program community. Within this community, they actively exchange results, knowledge, and experience with one another and (collectively) with the outside world. In addition, the five projects will jointly conduct overarching research into generic knowledge and methods for preparing for upscaling in design processes.
Apply now
We warmly invite entrepreneurs, design professionals, researchers, and other interested parties to submit proposals. Be sure to mark September 18 in your calendar as the first important deadline: the submission of the pre-application.
Read the call for proposals for more information about the problem statement, the frameworks, the process, and the conditions and criteria.
Calls for proposals from The Power of Design & Transitions have already been opened for both 2024 and 2025. Visit this page for more information about the program, and view the current projects here. The projects within this program are supported by CLICKNL with a PPSi grant from the PPS Innovation Scheme. TKI CLICKNL implements this scheme of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) on behalf of RVO, in support of the Mission-Driven Innovation Policy.
