Last chance: submit your application for KIEM MV (realising societal and economic impact)
On Tuesday, September 30 at 14:00, the second submission round of the KIEM MV grant scheme will close. This scheme offers universities of applied sciences the opportunity to conduct practice-based research into current societal challenges, together with practice partners.
The Netherlands faces major and complex challenges, such as the energy transition, affordable healthcare, and labor market issues. Smart innovations and applications are essential – but only valuable when actually put into practice. KIEM MV stimulates collaboration between knowledge institutions, entrepreneurs, and other practice partners, with the aim of strengthening the knowledge base of design power.
The Design Power Agenda describes what is needed to strengthen and better use design power. KIEM MV directly builds on this agenda and focuses on three key lines: developing expertise to design for transitions, making optimal use of design power, and strengthening collective capacity.
What does this offer?
KIEM MV enables one-year research projects, in which universities of applied sciences work with at least two practice partners (including at least one SME) to explore new practical questions. The goal is to generate knowledge that helps creative professionals design more effectively for societal transitions.
Examples from earlier projects:
- Research into children’s eating behavior in primary schools – exploring how design can support healthier habits.
- Social robots in the workplace – examining the role of robotics in organizations.
Within this call, up to 45 applications are expected to be granted. The scheme is jointly funded by The SIA Governing Body and CLICKNL.
