A couple of weeks ago Steven Fokkinga received his PhD for his research onderzoek ‘Design -|+ Negative emotions for positive experiences’. With his Steven also launched the website Negative Emotion Typology. This tool for designers includes a rich and varied database about the nuances of negative emotions. The tool is an initiative of the
Delft Institute of Positive Design, part of the TU Delft. The research was part of
CRISP. How to use the tool.

1. Compare Get an overview of the 36 negative emotions on the main page. Hover over an emotion to get a quick definition and compare them.
2. Get introduced Want to get introduced to all emotions in a fun way? Read the comic of Murphy's bad day and see how he experiences each one of them.
3. Learn Get an in-depth understanding of each emotion by clicking on its definition on the main page, or by switching to list-view.
4. Test yourself Want to see how good your emotion knowledge already is? Do the movie quiz and identify the right emotions in five movies clips.
