OPEN | CIIIC Start: exploratory research into immersive experiences
Summary:
- Funding up to €50,000 for one-year exploratory research into the functioning and impact of immersive experiences (IX).
- For temporary partnerships between research institutions with at least two practice partners (companies and/or social organizations).
- Focused on the responsible and effective use of immersive applications in fields such as healthcare, culture, education, and industry.
The Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition (CIIIC) is a National Growth Fund program that strengthens the creative industries through research, knowledge, and innovation around immersive experiences (IX).
With the new CIIIC Start call, researchers and creators can systematically explore when and how immersive applications are most effective and responsibly deployed.
The call supports short-term, practice-oriented research that seeks to answer questions such as:
- Which elements make immersive experiences effective in different contexts?
- How do users experience IX, and what is the demonstrable added value?
- How can public values and ethical principles be safeguarded?
- How can existing methods and insights be made broadly applicable across sectors?
Who can apply?
CIIIC Start is aimed at temporary partnerships consisting of a university, university of applied sciences, or other research institution working with at least two partners: enterprises (such as IX makers) and/or social organizations.
A typical partnership might include:
- A research institution conducting the study,
- An IX company developing the application,
- A social organization providing the testbed.
Whether you work with VR, AR, XR, games, installations, or story worlds — in healthcare, culture, education, heritage, journalism, or industry — CIIIC Start offers the opportunity to investigate the impact of your work.
Funding and requirements
- Maximum grant per project: €50,000
