TSE Industrie studies

Are you an entrepreneur investigating the feasibility of an innovative pilot or demonstration project in industry? Or are you investigating the feasibility of a project for an out-of-print technology? Will this project help you reduce CO2 emissions in 2030 or before? Then apply for the Top Sector Energy (TSE) Industry Studies grant.

What do you get a grant for?
You get a grant to study the feasibility of an innovative pilot or demonstration project or environmental investment in industry. Your project will help reduce CO2 emissions by 2030, at low cost. You can apply for grants for 3 types of studies:

Feasibility study
You do a feasibility study for a pilot project. We also call this a 'pilot project experimental development'. In it, you test an innovative CO2-reducing technique under real conditions. The technique must be innovative. We compare it with the international state of research and technology. In the study, you research the feasibility of your project beforehand.

You do a feasibility study to decide whether to go ahead with the project. You objectively show the strengths and weaknesses of your project. You map out the opportunities and risks. In doing so, you indicate what you need to carry out your project. You show the chances of success.

Environmental study
In an environmental study, you ask what investments you need to achieve a higher level of environmental protection. An environmental study helps your company determine its environmental output. And make a choice between different options.

Are you planning to make an environmental investment? An environmental investment is, for example, a 'demonstration project', in which the end user/operator invests in a technique that is new to the Netherlands. It can also be the preparation for an investment in a project for an out-of-print technique. The investment may not fall under research and development.

Similar study
In a comparable study, you investigate an environmental investment in a demonstration project or in a project with an out-developed technology that does not fall under an environmental study. It is an investment that is not covered by the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER), such as:

  • studies on advanced biofuels;
  • projects for the capture, use and storage of CO2 (CCUS);
  • projects in which another party receives the environmental benefit other than the party already seeking to make a sustainable investment.
