AIGNED

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the public and media sectors. From automated content creation to AI-supported workflows, its adoption is reshaping roles, skills, and how organizations operate and engage with their audiences. At the same time, many organizations lack clear insight into which AI-related knowledge and skills they already have in-house, and which still need to be developed.

AIGNED focuses on developing a practical measurement tool that provides insight into the AI literacy of employees across different roles. The tool maps what employees know, understand, and are able to do with regard to AI—whether they work as editors, policymakers, designers, or data analysts. These insights help organizations make more targeted investments in upskilling and reskilling, and support strategic decision-making around AI adoption.

The project responds to the growing need for clear definitions and measurement methods for AI literacy, also in light of the European AI Act, which requires organizations to ensure sufficient AI literacy among their staff. Throughout the development process, organizations from the public and media sectors are actively involved to ensure the tool aligns with practice and is directly applicable.

The results provide organizations with concrete tools to better prepare their workforce for technological developments. In doing so, the project supports a responsible and future-oriented use of AI in both the public and media sectors.
