Residency Arita

For designers and artists who want to carry out research in the artistic and technical fields and to develop their own work through intensive interaction with local participating porcelain producers in the Saga region during a work period in Arita, Japan.

The Arita residency was set up by Creative Residency Arita (CRA), an international artist-in-residence programme of the city of Arita and Saga Prefecture on Kyushu, in collaboration with the Creative Industries Fund NL and the Mondriaan Fund.

The aim of the residency is to stimulate crossovers and experimentation and to initiate new collaborations between Dutch designers and artists and local porcelain producers and craftsmen. An important starting point for this residency is to learn special techniques within Japan's oldest ceramics industry and to apply these in the participants’ work.

This open call is open to individual designers and artists. You can apply before March 13, 2023.
