XR tijdens de VR Days 2017

XR in museums

In various disciplines already, XR – that is virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality – is part of everyday life: surgeons prepare for surgery and “feel” what they need to cut out ahead of time, architects virtually test the quality of the new building and, in doing so, shorten the construction time, and Hollywood director Ridley Scott (Alien) as well goes VR, just to name some examples. That’s all great, but what are the latest XR developments in the heritage world?

XR IN MUSEA DURING THE VR DAYS

You will see, hear and experience everything about XR in museums on Friday 27 October 2017, during the VR Days in Amsterdam. For example at the Museum Morning session.

  • Session moderators: Margreet Schavemaker from Stedelijk Museum (Netherlands) and Guido van Nispen from the Council for Culture (Netherlands).
  • Panel with and use cases by: Rudolf Romero from Acropolis (Netherlands), Liana Brazil from SuperUber (São Paulo) and DFFRNT Media (Netherlands).

Exciting will be the “Dragon’s Den,” in which six candidates pitch their VR Heritage projects to the public and an independent jury. The winners will receive support from the Field Lab Virtual Worlds to realize their project and will be announced later that day.
