Project proposals can be submitted from 7 April until 18 May 2021, 2.00 p.m. CEST.

Five themes are central:
• Health & healthcare
• Climate & circular economy
• Security
• Mobility & agriculture
• Water & food

From cybersecurity to circular construction
Topics covered in the research proposals include cybersecurity by design, ultrasonic brain modulation, optimisation of traffic flow in the city, extraction of nitrogen compounds from animal manure and eco-efficient and circular construction.

The call
HiTMaT stands for: Connecting High Tech PPP in Societal Themes. It is a competition between the best R&D proposals for high-tech PPP that offer solutions for the societal themes and missions of the Netherlands. In 2020, 60 research proposals were submitted, 15 of which were nominated, and 10 projects ultimately won € 25,000 in seed funding.

Who has the best ideas this year?

Submittal
Project proposals can be submitted from 7 April via the Holland High-tech website. The deadline for submitting applications is 18 May 2021, 2:00 p.m. CEST.

Establishment of the call
The TKI HTSM and the top sector HTSM have listed the innovation challenges per societal theme in their KIA 2018-2021. These themes relate to the new mission-driven government policy in which societally relevant themes in missions and knowledge innovation agendas (KIAs) are shaped.
Submitters of a project proposal have a chance to win € 25,000 in seed money for a public-private partnership project in which their high-tech research innovation is connected with one of the 5 societal themes. In the public-private partnership project, at least one research institute (main applicant) and one entrepreneur must work together. Funding is awarded for one year.
