The JDE Promesso coffee machine, designed by design agency VanBerlo and already awarded with the GIO, has been presented with a Red Dot: Best of the Best award. On March 30 the international jury announced that the coffee machine for the business market, designed in close collaboration with the client, Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE), has been rated as the best product in its category. The international design prize will be awarded on Monday, 4 July at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany.
Best of the Best The Red Dot Design Awards 2016 reward the best designs from the previous year. 5,200 designs from 57 countries were assessed by a 41-member jury. The jury deliberated the outcome of the Red Dot Design Awards for three main disciplines, Product, Communication and Concept, divided into 31 categories. The most outstanding designs take home a Best of the Best award. The Promesso coffee machine sets design agency VanBerlo and JDE apart: only 1.5% of all entries are distinguished with such an honourable prize.

Close collaboration For decades, JDE has been the only coffee roaster in the world to develop their own coffee machines.
