CIIIC program officially launched with the first calls

This week sees the launch of the first calls within the National Growth Fund program CIIIC (Creative Industries Immersive Impact Coalition): the Innovation Impact Challenge and Artistic & Design Research for Immersive Experiences (ADRIE). This officially begins the program that will give a powerful boost to the Dutch Immersive Experiences (IX) industry over the next five years.

A total of 200 million euros will be invested to strengthen the industry and put it on the map internationally. Much of this funding will be made available for innovative projects through open calls.

When creative professionals and entrepreneurs, research institutions and governments work together and put people first, we build step-by-step an immersive world of and for everyone

The CIIIC Program
The digital world is at a tipping point. After Internet and mobile, we are on the eve of the third digital wave and a new revolution: a world in which digital and physical merge seamlessly. To give the Netherlands a leading position in this international development, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) is launching the largest ever innovation program in this field: CIIIC. With an investment of 200 million euros and the expertise of leading organizations from research, the creative industry, business and government, the program is helping to build the future of immersive experiences. A future in which CIIIC combines innovation with important public values such as privacy and digital accessibility.

Shaping responsible IX is our common challenge

An immersive world of and for everyone
Barbera Wolfensberger, Director General of Culture and Media Ministry of Education, Culture and Science: 'IX is going to have a huge impact on our daily lives, from work and education to care and culture. With CIIIC, the Ministry of OCW is committed to the formation and acceleration of a specialized labor market for immersive digital content. Within this, shaping responsible IX is our common challenge. This requires collaboration, experimentation, design research and the ability to master new knowledge and skills. I am confident that when creative professionals and entrepreneurs, research institutions and governments work together and put people first, we build step-by-step an immersive world of and for everyone.'

Heleen Rouw, Program Director of CIIIC: “I am very proud of this important milestone for the program. It really becomes concrete now, with these first calls starting now. Together with all players in the existing and still-to-be-developed IX field, we can now really start catching and shaping that immersive wave.'
