Collaboration with regions

Call Societal aspects of the regional energy transition

This call for proposals forms a unique collaboration that has arisen between the provinces of Groningen, North Brabant, Overijssel, Zeeland and South Holland, and the National Programme Regional Energy Strategy (NP RES).

The research agenda "Societal aspects of the regional energy transition" (MARET) forms the basis for this call for proposals. The agenda consists of four themes, namely:

  • The role of regional governments in general and the role of the provinces in the regional energy transition in particular;
  • Strategies for participation and communication in the regional energy transition;
  • The regional energy transition as a systematic change: linking to other societal challenges; - Knowledge and learning agenda for the regional energy transition.

The aim of the programme is to generate innovative scientific knowledge and insights so that the policy of the partners in the call MARET can be strengthened.

The research projects will jointly provide a realisation of the research agenda MARET. The research projects must concern one of the four themes or a combination of these. With a view to ensuring a good embedding, a link will be made between the research projects and the participating provinces. Applicants will make a link with one of these provinces (North Brabant, Overijssel, Zeeland) or the combination of the provinces Groningen and South Holland. They will develop their research proposal in consultation with this/these province(s). What this linking entails is explained in the call for proposals (see Section 2.3).
