Meet-up

What is the future of circular textiles?

Are you working in the circular textile industry or are you concerned with this topic as a policy maker? And are you curious how we can ensure a fair circular transition in a world full of ultra fast fashion? Then don't miss this meeting “What is the future of circular textiles?” and join the discussion about the future of circular textiles.

The session
In this practical session you will discuss developments and learn more about upcoming policies (see below). You will also discuss the future of a circular textile chain:

  • How do we ensure a fair circular transition?
  • What focal points should we take with us to Europe?
  • And should we focus on international cooperation or rather have everything in order locally first?

This session will be guided by various propositions and discussions. Finally, there is room to share experiences with policy makers and entrepreneurs/designers to deal with all the above developments in a future-proof way.

Background
At the end of 2024, the Circular Textiles 2025-2030 policy program was launched.Several studies have also been launched on policies aimed at the front end of the chain. For example, what can we do to address (ultra) fast fashion? Are there possibilities to price non-sustainable textiles? And how do we help consumers make more sustainable choices?
In addition, the Sector Guide on Circular Textiles was published on December 11, 2024 to put the Netherlands on the map internationally. This mapped the Dutch circular textile chain and conducted follow-up research among circular textile entrepreneurs on their challenges, opportunities and international ambitions.
