How can we look beyond our own professional perspective when working toward social progress?
Social Design Showdown #24 Outside Views
At Outside Views, the first edition in a new series by Social Design Showdown, it’s all about broadening perspectives. Social designers, social scientists, and social workers come together to exchange knowledge and explore how their approaches can complement one another.
Three speakers — Vénicia Sananès (University of Amsterdam), Laura Mudde (University of Humanistic Studies / HKU), and Mariëlle Kleyn Winkel (DOCK Amsterdam) — share their insights on proximity, moral learning, and community building. Together with participants, they explore how the depth of research can connect with the creativity of design, and how both worlds can better align with the realities of social work and community life.
After the main discussion, participants will continue in smaller groups, working through real-life examples to uncover new opportunities for collaboration. Outside Views invites attendees to step outside their own bubble — and to discover how diverse perspectives can strengthen social change.
