PONT Workshops at Dutch Design Week

During Dutch Design Week, the Publieke Ontwerppraktijk (PONT) invites designers, policymakers, and other professionals to learn and experiment together. Three workshops offer the opportunity to explore how design can drive change in public contexts — from identifying design questions to working with friction in collaboration.

Workshop: Is Your Question a Design Question?

When is a design-driven approach the right fit for your challenge? In this interactive session, you’ll explore what defines a design question and how design can help address problems without a single clear solution. You’ll work on your own case and formulate a concrete design question to take back into your practice.

Workshop: Brave or ‘Braaf’?

How bold should designers be within the public sector? This workshop explores the balance between courage and caution in public design practices. Through real examples, you’ll reflect on your own approach — when is bravery needed, and how can you create space for it?

Workshop: The Friction Floor

Collaboration between civil servants and designers brings fresh energy and new ideas — but also tension. In this workshop, you’ll explore how to use friction as a source of creativity and change. Through a collective exercise, you’ll discover how to make tension constructive and productive.

Whether you’re a designer, policymaker, or researcher, these workshops create space to learn, reflect, and explore how design power can drive public innovation together.
