What is Maker Faire?
The Maker Faire is the largest Show (and Tell) on Earth: a family-friendly festival centered on invention, creativity and ingenuity. A celebration of the Maker movement. Part science festival, part trade fair, and part something completely new.
Maker Faire is a gathering of tech enthusiasts, hobbyists, educators, tinkerers, engineers, science clubs, designers, artists, students and commercial exhibitors of all ages. All these creators come to the Maker Faire to show the public what they make and to share what they learn. They introduce their projects to the public with passion and enthusiasm.
The future will bring us more technology and digitisation, but also major challenges and opportunities for people and society. The Maker Faire democratises technology and knowledge, stimulates creativity and gives impulses to social and economic innovation.
The Maker Faire stands for making visible and strengthening a growing ecosystem of culture, technology, education and entrepreneurship.
Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people eager to share their skills. It is a place for creators to showcase their work and interact with the audience. Many creators say they know of no other place to share what they do. DIY (Do-It-Yourself) is often invisible in our community, it often takes place in shops, garages and on kitchen tables. It is usually not in the spotlight of traditional art or (scientific) events. Maker Faire makes these projects visible and shows ideas that we don't come across every day.
