Living Environment of Tomorrow | Dutch Design Week 2025
Our living environment brings together major societal challenges: energy, climate, health, and social cohesion all demand space. Yet, in practice, ambitions in area development often fade once implementation begins. How can we prevent this? And how do we ensure that sustainable and social design principles truly guide development?
During the Living Environment of Tomorrow seminar, designers, researchers, and policymakers share insights from the research project of the same name. The project explores how the creative industries can help maintain ambitions in area developmentāfrom idea to realization.
About the programme
The seminar brings together experiences from Living Environment of Tomorrow and offers a platform for exchange on topics such as:
- The gap between ambition, realization, and everyday living
- Collaboration between creative professionals, government, and market
- The development of value cases
- The role of design in addressing complex area-based challenges
The session concludes with a guided tour of Living LAB 040, where participants can experience a range of innovative projects in practice.
