Knowledge workshops: the policy perspective
Urbanization without taking the soil seriously is no longer possible. A vital subsurface is indispensable for a future-proof approach to the task of urbanization. Visit one of the three knowledge workshops that Young Dogs is organizing in collaboration with the Creative Industry Stimulation Fund in which the joint insights gained during the Building from the Soil program will be shared.
The second Knowledge Workshop: the policy view on April 4, 2024 will bring together designers and soil experts to look at the role of soil in the urbanization task from an integral and interdisciplinary perspective. From an integral and interdisciplinary perspective, the role of soil in the urbanization task will be looked at. Expect two inspiring presentations of the following projects from the Building from Soil program:
Soil-directed design by Studio Marco Vermeulen
Building in floodplains, deep polders and on soft soil is increasingly discouraged by the government. But what if we built here, as in many other deltas, floating, amphibious or light-footed? Studio Marco Vermeulen has a different take on soil-controlled design and will take you through this during this inspiration session.
Living Lab: Urban Symbiosis by SYLVA Landscape Architecture
Urban Symbiosis is a new approach to designing, implementing and maintaining public green spaces. By working with the ecological systems and processes underground, greenery - and its benefits - becomes accessible to everyone. During this inspiration session, SYLVA and the Municipality of The Hague take you through this new way of working and their lessons learned.
Follow-up
After the second knowledge workshop follows Knowledge workshop: the immaterial view. This third meeting will focus on exploring the often underexposed immaterial role of soil.
