Brave New World

BRAVE NEW WORLD is an annual conference for people who want to know what the future holds in store and how this will affect their business, policies and life. On Monday, Tuesday 4-5 November 2019, the worlds of culture, philosophy, science, technology and storytelling will collide. The conference wants to discuss what ethical and societal impact new technologies could have on human life, before the innovations are introduced in society.

This conference is for people who want to go beyond their own field of interest, who want to network with others with innovative mindset. Brave New World is meant for professionals coming from (applied) science, industry, (semi) government and the creative industry.

James Bridle is an artist and writer working across technologies and disciplines. His artworks have been commissioned by galleries and institutions and exhibited worldwide and on the internet.

BINA 48 (social robot) (US)
BINA48 is a black, female-presenting advanced social robot and ambassador for the multi-decade mind uploading experiment in AI and cyber-consciousness LifeNaut project.

Bruce Duncan (director of the Terasem Movement Foundation) (US)
Bruce Duncan has been the Managing Director of the Terasem Movement Foundation and humanoid Bina48 which he describes as a digital artwork.

Elsa Sotiriadis (synthetic biologist, futurist and science fiction writer) (CHE)
Dr. Elsa Sotiriadis is a synthetic biologist, futurist and science fiction writer (Elsa Solaris) interested in fixing the world with the science of biohacking.

Thomas Thwaites (goat man) - Designer (UK)
Thomas Thwaites is a British designer and writer. He describes himself as “a designer (of a more speculative sort), interested in technology, science, futures research & etc.”

Margriet Sitskoorn (professor of Clinical Neuropsychology) (NL)
Margriet Sitskoorn is professor of clinical neuropsychology at the University of Tilburg. She carries out research into the relationship between brain and behaviour.
