BNA: Glass

“In half a day [you will] be brought up to speed on the technological and innovative applications of glass and all of the special applications for glass.”

Glass is a special building material with many possible applications. It comes in various forms and has various functions: esthetic, structural, acoustic, energy-saving, security, etc. In short, each type of glass is unique. In the “glass academy” of the BNA (Branch Association Dutch Architecture Bureaus) they love to go into the almost unrivalled opportunities that glass offers in construction. We especially look at the glass in the outer facade. In this training you will be broadly informed about the applications and you become inspired by the latest innovative technological possibilities for glass. In short, a very well-rounded training that leaves a lot of room for your own input.

What will you learn?
You will get a complete idea of the properties and possibilities of glass and can apply these in your own practice. You will gain insight into the latest innovative and technological developments in the area of glass.

Program
The part-day training consists of four components:
• Theory: Which properties can we connect to glass and how do they come to life? Think of thermal isolation (the rise of 3-bladed isolation glass!), blinders, acoustics, security, hardened glass and layered glass, fire delay and glass and sustainability.
• Practice: in the practical part we go into more depth on dimensions and weights, specific placement details (including (semi) structural), thermal fraction, glass thickness, facade decoration, etc.
• Inspiration: we discuss specials, such as screen printing, digital print, colored foils, printed foils between glass, heatable glass, switchable glass, and relief glass. We will do so through pictures and innovative practical examples.
• See: look at glass “live” in the Solarcar.
